CBI probes ex-CID chief for nine hours
The CBI on Thursday challenged in the Gujarat high court the order of a lower court rejecting its plea for remand of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
CBI’s plea demanding 10-day custody of Shah was rejected on Wednesday by the court, saying the probe agency does not have substantial grounds to seek his remand.
Meanwhile, former IPS officer O.P. Mathur, who was head of CID crime Gujarat which probed the encounter case earlier before it was handed over to the CBI by the Supreme Court, appeared before the agency.

According to CBI officials, during Mr Mathur’s stint as additional DG of CID crime, investigation was botched up and derailed.
Mr Mathur will again be called for further questioning by the Central agency, said official, there are allegations tempering with evidence during Mr Mathur’s stint as the CID crime.
