CBI questions Kalmadi
Commonwealth Games Organising Com-mittee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi was on Wedne-sday interrogated by the CBI for the first time in connection with various cases of alleged corruption in the preparations for the sporting event. Agency sources said “very significant” arrests in connection with its probe related to the CWG would be made in a day or two.
CBI officials questioned Mr Kalmadi for nearly nine hours at its headquarters. According to sources, the OC chairman was questioned in connection with irregularities committed in the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR), time scoring and result system (TSR), overlays (involving foreign contractors), and ticketing and appointment of certain foreign consultants. Mr Kalmadi reached the CBI office at about 10 am and left at around 7 pm, after being questioned. He may be called for questioning again by the CBI.
