CBI to quiz BJP MLA again

The CBI, probing the RTI activist Shehla Masood murder case, is preparing to grill D.N. Singh, a BJP legislator from Bhopal, again in connection with the case.

Sources said, “The agency has decided to question the BJP legislator again following fresh revelations made by Zahida Parvez (a Bhopal-based interior designer) and her friend Shaba Farooqi in connection with the RTI activist murder case. Both, Zahida and Shaba, are prime accused in the murder case and are in judicial custody.” It is believed that the duo have alleged that Mr Singh’s role must be probed by the agency in hatching conspiracy to eliminate Masood. The BJP MLA is likely to be questioned by the Bhopal unit of the agency next week, sources added.
The CBI, which conducted lie-detection test on Mr Singh, has so far not found any substantive clues against the MLA. The agency, which had constituted a separate team to scrutinise the findings of the lie-detection test, found no evidence that links BJP legislator — a case suspect — to the crime and the conspiracy behind it, sources added. However, the agency has not given a clean chit to him.
Probe by the agency already revealed that Ms Zahida had allegedly very close relations with the MLA, to the extent of obsession, and resented his closeness with Masood. “From her diary, CBI officials had come to know of several instances where Zahida had noted down her feelings for Mr Singh and growing resentment for Masood,” sources said. Masood was murdered on August 16, 2011 outside her house in Koh-e-Fiza locality in Bhopal.
The CBI is also expected to get the forensic report of the CDs which had been recovered from the residence of Zahida. Probe revealed that Zahida had allegedly recorded a video filming herself in a compromising position with a local legislator. It is still not clear whether the video was filmed to black-mail the politician or for some other purpose, sources said.
