CBI raids on OC officials’ premises
The CBI on Friday conducted searches at the premises of several serving and former officials of the Organising Committee (OC) of the Commonwealth Games in connection with its probe related to overlays contracts, worth `650 crores.
The agency is also expected to make major arrests in a day or two, sources said, adding that arrests of recently-sacked top OC officials cannot be ruled out. Sources said that following the Friday raids, major arrests were imminent in a day or two.
The decision to make arrests has already been discussed at higher level in the CBI, they added. Without specifying names, sources said that the possibility of arrest of some of the recently-removed top OC officials cannot be ruled out as the agency has got sufficient evidence against them.
The CBI is also set to register a fresh FIR against certain government officials in connection with the alleged irregularities committed in awarding broadcast contract (worth `246 crores) for the Games to the UK-based SIS Live by Prasar Bharti.
The case may be registered in this regard in a day or two, sources added.
