CBI scrutinises 20 complaints
The CBI has started scrutinising complaints, related to large scale financial irregularities in Commonwealth Games (CWG) projects, received by the agency recently. The agency has received 20 fresh complaints related to irregularities in CWG contracts.
According to sources, the agency has also started collecting tender documents related to certain projects from the authorities concerned. On the basis of recent complaints received by the agency, the CBI has started collecting tender documents from government agencies, including Public Works Department (PWD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA), sources added. The agency has also decided to collect some documents, related to certain projects, from the OC of the CWG, sources added.
“Projects which are being probed by the CBI include — construction of grade separator at Rajaram Kohli Marg intersection and Shastri Nagar intersection in East Delhi, grade separator on NH-24 at the crossing of NH–24 and Road No 56 at Ghazipur involving construction of the main flyover and covering of Sunehari Nullah,” sources said. Majority of these projects were completed by the PWD, while a few were carried out by the MCD.
Sources further said, “The PWD will also be asked to handover the crucial documents related upgradation of street-lights in the city”.
