CBI set to book officials of mahajan era
The CBI is set to book former and serving officials of the Department of Telec-ommunications (DoT) in connection with its probe into alleged irregularities in awarding spectrum licences when the late Pramod Mahajan was communications minister.
The CBI, which has completed probe into the preliminary enquiry registered to probe alleged violations in spectrum allocation between 2001 and 2007, has not found any evidence related to irregularities in awarding spectrum during the tenure of former communications minister Ar-un Shourie. “The agency examined the allocation made during the stints of telecom ministers during the NDA regime — the late Pramod Mahajan, and Mr Shourie. No evidence related to irregularities in spectrum allocation during Shourie’s tenure has been found,” sources said.
