CBI stand irks Sachan family

The “murder” of deputy CMO Y.S. Sachan inside the Lucknow jail on June 22 is all set to go the Aarushi way.
The CBI is apparently determined to ignore facts and believe what the Lucknow police would like it to believe, that Dr Sachan was not murdered but committed suicide.
“How can a man inflict eight deep gashes on his neck, arms, thighs and groin and then hang himself with a belt that he never wore. The post-mortem report shows that the ligature marks on the neck, caused by the belt, were post mortem which means he was strangulated after he died. His body was not found hanging but sitting on the commode. Besides, there was not a drop of blood left in his body but the toilet in which his body was found did not have any blood. Where did all the blood go? Does the CBI want us to believe that Dr Sachan cleaned off all the blood before hanging himself? If he cut himself up, why was the knife not found near his body?” asks a distraught family member.
Dr Malti Sachan, wife of the slain doctor, vehemently denies that Dr Sachan was under depression. “He wanted to spill the beans in court where he was to appear on June 23. He was angry and determined to expose the real culprits and there were no signs of depression. The role of the Lucknow police has been questionable since the very beginning but I never expected the CBI to follow their cooked up theory. Anyone who goes though the facts will agree that it was a planned and cold blooded murder,” she told reporters. Family and friends of Dr Sachan are shocked, to put it rather mildly, at the CBI’s assertion on the suicide theory.
A colleague of the slain doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “This is shocking. If the CBI starts turning its eyes to glaring facts and allows itself to be manipulated, what hope is there for the common man who believes that the investigating agency works impartially? This was a case of state-sponsored crime and the CBI is following the government theory. In the future, any of us could get killed because the CBI will be there to shield the accused if they are people in power.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
