CBI suspects cop role in murder
The CBI, after registering four FIRs in the multiple Kunda murder cases, which also included DSP Zia-ul-Haq, is now suspecting the insider’s role of fellow policemen, including suspended station officer (SO) of Hathgawan Police station Manoj Kumar Shukla.
In a day or two, sources said the agency is preparing to record Mr Shukla’s statement under specific section of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) along with five other state police officials.
Sources in the agency said, “The CBI sleuths are now preparing to record the statement of Shukla under Section 164 of the CrPC. Statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC is deemed as evidence in the court of law”. Initial probe has revealed that the suspended inspector, who was on duty with the slain DSP, allegedly left the spot immediately after the murder. Shukla was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.
“Role of other policemen including suspended SHO and senior sub-inspector of Kunda police station Sarvesh Mishra and Vinay Kumar, respectively, and eight other policemen, including Haq’s gunner Mohammad Imran, is also under the scanner of the agency. The CBI officials are scrutinising call details of these police officials”, sources said. The CBI officials are also collecting details of wireless conversations and evidence collected by the local police, sources added.
Sources further said, “Agency officials are also planning to scrutinise call details of certain private persons in connection with the murder cases. If required, CBI may scrutinise call details of certain local politicians”.
The agency is also preparing to record the statement Guddu Singh, driver of former UP minister Raja Bhaiyya who has been booked under murder charges by the CBI. The agency is also considering seeking the custody of two accused in the case, including Guddu Singh, said to be close aides of Raja Bhaiyya.
