CBI visits trust, collects forensic evidence
The CBI, probing the mysterious disappearance of Swami Shankar Dev — founder of yoga guru Ramdev’s Divya Yog Mandir Trust, on Thursday visited trust’s office located in Kanhal (Haridwar) and collected certain forensic evidence. The agency sleuths also collected belongings of Swami Shankar Dev, sources said.
“A CBI team accompanied by Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CSFL) officials on Thursday visited Divya Yog Mandir trust and collected certain vital clues. The agency sleuths also re-created the crime scene at a spot inside the campus of the trust to gather more clues,” sources said.
Swami Shankar Dev had gone missing on July 14, 2007 after he went out for a morning walk in Haridwar. Uttarakhand police had registered a case of abduction to probe the disappearance of Dev, who had been living in Ramdev’s ashram but was missing since July 2007. The FIR was reportedly lodged by Balkrishna at Kankhal police station three days after the Swami went missing under mysterious circumstances.
All evidence collected by the CBI on Thursday will now be sent for forensic examination.
“The agency officials are also planning to quiz Ramdev as well as Balkrishna in connection with the case.”
“If required they may be examined at the agency headquarters here”, sources said. The agency will soon finalise the date for their questioning, sources added.
