CCS may make report on J&K public by yearend
The Cabinet Committee on Security is expected to meet and discuss the Jammu and Kashmir interlocutor report and make it public before December-end.
The three Centre-appointed interlocutors met Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Friday amid rising concerns in the Valley about a possible
delay on the part of the government to disclose the details of the report and evolve a consensus amongst stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir imbroglio.
The Jammu and Kashmir interlocutors had submitted their report to the home minister in October and are presently working with the home ministry as “resource persons”.
Mr M.M. Ansari, one of the three interlocutors, said that a number of recommendations given by the interlocutor group have already been implemented like the setting up of information commission, accountability commission, holding of panchayat elections, removal of bunkers of armed forces from civilian areas, use of non-lethal weapons by security forces, increasing cross border trade, jobs for youth, while other measures like review of the AFSPA and PSA in Jammu and Kashmir for its withdrawal have been initiated.
