CCTV images at blast site of no use

Investigators probing the explosion in Malleswaram on Wednesday have not retrieved any vital clues from the footage of three CCTV cameras near the blast site.
One of the cameras was at the BJP party office, the other at an apartment complex and the third at Gangamma Devi temple. All the cameras were within 80-120 metre range of the blast site. But the investigators have failed to get any vital clues from the footage. The camera at the BJP office, which is around 50 metres from the spot, has captured images of only people running away from the blast site. The CCTV at the apartment complex is pointed at the corridor to monitor the movement of people and not towards the road, while the one at Gangamma Devi temple has been fixed to capture the images of people entering and exiting the temple, the officer said.

Carbon paper being used to wrap bombs
age Correspondent
Hyderabad, April 19

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found that terrorists are using carbon paper to wrap explosive materials like detonators to avoid detection by X-Ray scanners at airports, temples and VIP offices.
In the petition filed in the Mecca Masjid blast case, the NIA said that the accused terror suspects had used the technique which was earlier used by fake currency racketeers as the carbon absorbs X-Rays and images are blurred.
X-Ray scanners at modern airports have been upgraded to counter this, but old airports, and small airports, temples and government offices, including the chief minister’s office do not have such sophisticated equipment. National Investigation Agency special public prosecutor P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, in the petition filed in the fourth additional metropolitan sessions judge court in Nampally regarding the cancellation of bail of Mecca Masjid blast accused Devendra Gupta and Lokesh Sharma, stated that the accused used carbon paper for this purpose.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
