Centre to states: Furnish details of all Pak Hindus
The Centre has asked all states to furnish details of Pakistani Hindus who have sought long-term visas after several hundred of them arrived in India following alleged atrocities in Pakistan. While there is growing concern among the Central security agencies over the presence of such persons being left undetected, the Union home ministry has written to all state governments to furnish details of the Pakistani Hindus who have applied LTVs and whose applications are being accepted by the state governments.
The MHA is in a bind as a large number of Pakistani-Hindus have not approached the state Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRROs) so far despite efforts by the government to direct them to the state authorities.
The MHA has so far received applications of nearly 200 Pakistani Hindus living in Delhi and Rajasthan whose recommendations have been sent by the respective state governments.
In a recent letter shot off to all state governments, the MHA has asked all states to share the details immediately to enable it to compile a database of such persons whose antecedents have been screened by the state authorities.
