‘Centre on vicious campaign on RSS’

Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of adopting a “cheap tactic” by diverting people’s attention from the “burning issue” of corruption, the RSS on Friday said the government has launched a “vicious campaign” against it with regard to Baba Ramdev’s anti-corruption campaign. Meanwhile, the BJP demanded that the

government should not “keep its ego first”, and announce some “strong and effective action” on demands made by Baba Ramdev whose fast against corruption entered its seventh day on Friday. The party also expressed concern over the health of Ramdev, who was shifted to a hospital.
Supporting anti-corruption campaigns launched by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, the RSS said the two have come forward to “express and channelise” the “collective public anger” against corruption.
RSS joint general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi, in a statement issued said, “A few ministers of the incumbent central government and office-bearers of the Congress have for the last two days led a vicious campaign against the RSS. Repeated allegations are being made against the RSS attributing motives on us to create disturbance and disorder in the country.”
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh as well as few Union ministers had alleged that the RSS was behind Ramdev’s fast against corruption.
The RSS said the government’s inaction against those “high and mighty” involved in corruption cases has resulted in dissatisfaction among the masses which is evident through people protesting and participating in huge numbers in anti-corruption campaigns across the country.
