Chair electrifies the Net
Chennai, Dec. 10: The Chinese dissident, Mr Liu Xiaobo, the face of heroism in China has found staunch supporters in the Neterrati. From Twitter to Chinese Facebook equivalent Renren, the virtual vultures are keeping an eye on the reactions from officials who have barred Mr Xiaobo from Oslo.
Meanwhile in a display of solidarity, net users have started posting photographs of chairs, in a bid to highlight the message that their hero would not be at the ceremony.
Laying bare their attitude, the Chinese administration immediately banned Twitter, where one user described the posting of photographs as ‘small acts of thinking of Liu Xiaobo in celebration of China’s first-ever Nobel’. Though the site is blocked in China, many managed to bypass this using proxy servers.
