Chargesheet in Saif brawl to be filed this week

The Mumbai police will file a chargesheet in the Saif Ali Khan brawl case this week, sources said. The police has recorded the statements of around 15 witnesses, and said there is nothing left to investigate.
The police says it will not record the statements of those in Saif’s party, inclu-ding fiancée Kareena Kap-oor, as it would only add to the “negative evidence”.
Khan was arrested Thur-sday after a South Africa-based NRI, Iqbal Sharma, complained that he was beaten up by Khan and his friends when he asked them not to talk very loudly at the Wasabi restaurant at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel here.
“We recorded the statements of witnesses, including the Wasabi staff, and also recorded the statement of the (Taj) usher, who shook hands with Khan when he entered the hotel,” said investigating officer Dadaso Edke.
Mr Edke said the police was relying on the witnesses’ statements. “As no weapon was used, and there is no CCTV footage available, there is no physical evidence. There were no other guests inside the restaurant at the time, so the statements by the staff will be crucial,” he said.
