Chief of Army staff meets Omar Abdullah
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General V.K. Singh, who is on a two-day visit, discussed the prevailing security situation of Jammu and Kashmir with the state chief minister Omar Abdullah.
General Singh, who was accompanied by the commander of Srinagar based 15 Corps Lt Gen S.A. Hasnain, met Omar at his residence here last evening.
“During the meeting, the Army chief apprised the chief minister of the prevailing security scenario in the state,” an official spokesman said.
The matters pertaining to various aspects of security were also discussed during the meeting, he said.
Gen Singh is also scheduled to visit the Line of Control (LOC), where he will interact with the troops.
The visit of the Army Chief comes in the back drop of two major infiltration attempts by the heavily armed militants this past week, in which four army jawans, including an officer were killed.
