Chief whips meet ahead of session
Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal members, at a meeting of the chief whips of the political parties here on Friday, demanded a structured discussion on “Hindu terrorism” during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, beginning Monday, with the calculation that this could embarrass the JD(U), BJP and Congress ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.
The SP, BSP, RJD, JD(U), DMK, AIADMK and LJP will press for a discussion on a caste-based Census.
Mr Rajeev Shukla of the Congress, meanwhile, felt any issue can be raised and discussed in Parliament without blocking proceedings.
Mr Paban Singh Ghatowar said Question Hour should not be tampered with while the BJP’s Maya Singh felt proceedings should not be affected by disruptions.
The government plans to take up nine bills for introduction, consideration and passing and 24 bills for consideration and passing in the two Houses during 24 sittings spread over 33 days from July 26.
