Children’s films to be screened in schools y
Soon watching films could be a part of extra curricular activities implemented in the country’s school system.
The information and broadcasting ministry and the human resources development ministry are understood to be working out a formula, likely to be implemented during the forthcoming 12th Five Year Plan, wherein students across the country could be shown children’s films. Students from both urban and rural areas will be targeted for exhibition of children’s films in schools.
Sources stated that as per the scheme exhibition of children’s films will be done in municipal schools through district and state level film festivals in collaboration with the district and state administration.
“The objective of the scheme is to exhibit films without charge for the benefit of the disadvantaged children in semi-urban and rural areas and children studying in schools who are otherwise deprived of good quality children’s cinema,” sources added.
The step was initiated after it was felt that children across the country were not able to view and experience films that are created for them.
Moreover, in another step to increase the access of children’s films across the country, it has been proposed that the National Children’s Film Festival travel to other parts apart from just being held in Hyderabad.
It has been pointed out that International Children’s Film Festival has been held in Hyderabad for 9 years and children of the rest of the country have been deprived of this event.
