Chinese tent 18 km inside Indian area

Chinese forces for the first time have intruded nearly 18 km inside the Indian side of the unresolved Line of Actual Control and pitched tents. The tents were erected while Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel were busy engaging with Chinese troops through a well-established drill as soon as the intrusions took place on April 15. The Chinese tent was spotted on April 16 with the help of an aerial survey, top government sources said.
Approximately 30 armed personnel of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) are currently present at the tented post, sources said.
The Burtse post is the location near which the Chinese troops are sitting in tented accommodation in the high plains of Debsang, Ladakh.
China sees the area as part of Chinese territory as per its perception of the LAC demarcation with India.
As the face-off continued for the eighth day, the ITBP and the Indian Army have moved in an equal number of personnel to their tent, which has been pitched opposite the Chinese forces at an approximate distance of 500 metres.
