Chiranjeevi pleads for Hyderabad as UT

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for tourism K. Chiranjeevi on Saturday said there is a need to make Hyderabad the permanent capital of Telangana and Seemandhra states or a Union Territory in order to ensure protection for the lakhs of people from all regions.
In a clear deviation from his earlier stand on a United AP, a visibly upset Chiranjeevi, during the media interaction in Delhi, said, “My stand has been for a united state. But I am not an independent man now.
I have merged my Praja Rajyam with the Congress and need to abide by whatever the Congress high command decides on the issue.”
When asked if he is going to resign in protest against the Centre’s decision on bifurcation, Chiranjeevi said, “If my resignation from the ministry helps the Centre to rethink on the division of the state, I will be the first to do it.”

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for tourism K. Chiranjeevi on Saturday demanded Hyderabad as permanent capital on the lines of Chandigarh.
“I demand that Hyderabad should be a joint capital for both the states, on a permanent basis, or at least it should be declared as the second national capital as suggested by B.R. Ambedkar, long ago,” Chiranjeevi added.
