Choose wisely, Advani tells voters
BJP leader L.K. Advani here on Wednesday asked voters to ensure that their franchise did not give power to the corrupt, but to good people and the party that will work for them and the state’s welfare.
Regretting the rampant corruption in Congress ruled governments, Mr Advani said, “Voting is a sacred right given to you by the Constitution. Use it judiciously to elect only honest and worthy candidates.”
He also said, “Despite the tall claims of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the development of the northeast, these states have been neglected by the government till date.
As a result, development is still a distant dream for this part of the country and it remains neglected.”He pointed out that the Congress does not listen to voice of Northeast because it is far from New Delhi. “But we took care and within a short time addressed many grievances of region,” he said, admitting that much more remains to be done.
He said, “The ministers at the Centre and in Assam are involved in rampant corruption and swindling of public money, they have misused funds worth thousands of crores during the last few years. Keeping this in mind, the people of Assam should vote for the BJP to make the nation free from corruption.”He said that the country could not progress at its natural pace in the 20th century because it was an era of the west but the 21st century is India’s century.
“I am here to appeal to you to vote for BJP and its allies who will give a transparent and corruption-free government to the state,” said Mr Advani. He also highlighted the prosperity and development in BJP ruled states.
