Civilian killed in crossfire
Srinagar, Aug. 11: Militants mounted simultaneous attacks at a local police station and three CRPF pickets in Sopore and then barged into the house of a local political activist where they killed his three police guards and decamped with their service weapons on Tuesday evening.
Militants forced their entry into the house of a local political activist , Mr Muhammad Abdullah Dar, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2002 and 2008 J&K Assembly elections, the last one as a candidate of Democratic Party (Nationalist).
They shot dead three policemen guarding the activist’s home and decamped with their service weapons, reports said.
A woman was killed and nine others, including two Army jawans, were injured when a passenger bus was caught in crossfire during the militants’ attack on an Army convoy in frontier Rajouri district on Wednesday, police said adding that seven persons including two soldiers were injured in the exchange of fire.
