Class X student gangraped in Panchkula
A 15-year-old girl, a student of Class X, was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by two youths known to her brother in Haryana's Panchkula, police said today.
The two accused have been been arrested and booked for kidnapping and raping under relevant sections of the IPC after a complaint was lodged by the victim last evening. The two were remanded to two-days police custody by a Panchkula Court today.
The girl, a resident of Sector 6 area in Panchkula, about 15 km from here, was allegedly lured by the two youths on some pretext on Sunday evening, Panchkula's Superintendent of Police, Manish Chaudhry said.
According to the victim's statement, she was lured by the two youths who took her in their car. Later on, they offered a drink laced with intoxicants to her," Chaudhry said.
The victim fell unconscious after consuming the drink and was not aware what was happening with her, she said.
"A medical examination of the victim was done which confirmed sexual intercourse. The samples of the two accused and the girl have been sent to Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Madhuban," Chaudhry said.
The two accused are pursuing engineering and BA. While one of them is a resident of Sector 2, Panchkula, the other is a resident of Manimajra town in Chandigarh.
"The two youths belong to well off families and so does the victim. The duo were known to the girl's brother. Initially the girl's family was reluctant to come forward with the complaint fearing the incident would be prominently highlighted in the media, but later on decided to lodge a case so that the accused are punished under the law, police sources said.
