CM holds meet to review situation
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday held a series of meetings with his Cabinet colleagues and various government functionaries and officials of the police and Central security forces to review the deteriorating law and order situation across the Valley.
He also asked ministers to rush to affected areas in groups to help in restoring peace.
Later the chief minister issued a passionate appeal to the people asking them to help his government in its endeavour to restore peace and normalcy.
An official release issued here said that the chief minister has appealed to all sections of the society to extend their wholehearted cooperation in restoration of peace and normalcy in the Valley. Mr Abdullah, however, warned that his government will take all steps necessary for restoring law and order and normalcy and will fight the forces of disruption.
Referring to his meeting with a group of ministers, the statement said the chief minister wants anti-social elements, who indulge in the damaging public property, to be dealt with firmly and that nobody would be allowed to vitiate the atmosphere in any part of the state. “The chief minister said that all necessary measures will be taken to safeguard life and property of its citizens. He also pledged that under no circumstances the common man will be allowed to suffer because he and his government is committed to the welfare of the common man and shall not allow anyone to disturb his normal life,” it said.
