CM Omar says he is grateful to Rahul
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said he was “grateful” to Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for backing him.
“I’m very grateful for his backing, but I’m not saying anything...Whatever, I’ve to say I’ll say to Mr Rahul personally,” the chief minister said here.
In the backdrop of the use of phrases “trust deficit” and “governance deficit’ in the official statement issued after Monday’s CCS meeting in New Delhi which was being seen in political circles here as well in the Union capital as a snub to the chief minister and the speculations over new political realignment in Jammu and Kashmir raised by a meeting between opposition PDP patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh on Tuesday night, Mr Gandhi said that Mr Abdullah “needs time and support”.
The Congress leader said that Mr Abdullah was doing a tough job and that he should be given time and support.
The chief minister who skipped the all-party meet on Kashmir chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday called on the state governor, Mr N.N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday evening. Official spokesperson said that the two discussed, for over an hour, the obtaining situation in the state.
