U.P. cm seeks centre cooperation
UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Monday that the Centre needs to cooperate and complement the efforts of the state government in order to ensure proper development of the state.
The chief minister who was speaking at a function in Ghatampur to mark the launch of a 1980-MW thermal power project, said that the state was facing an acute power crisis and the farmers were the worst sufferers in this.
He said that UP did not have sufficient power to meet the needs of the people and the government was forced to buy power from other states. He said that when the thermal project becomes functional by 2015, it would ease the crisis to a large extent. The chief minister said that his government was ready to extend all possible help to the Centre if it concerned the development of Uttar Pradesh. He added that his government had already started fulfilling the promises that he had made in his election manifesto.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to farmers, Mr Yadav said that he would work overtime to ensure that the farmers got all possible facilities and also the right price for their produce. He assured that farmers who had to part with their land for the developmental projects would get sufficient compensation and job.
