Coach rapes minor kho-kho player in Goa hotel

The police here have arrested a kho-kho coach from Uttar Pradesh after he raped a 16-year-old player in a hotel room near Colva beach, 40km from here on Monday.

A police official said that the coach Amit Ragi had lured the minor girl to Goa from Bijnor, in Uttar Pradesh, by telling her that the beach resort destination was hosting a national kho kho selection camp.

"The girl was terrified after the incident and secretly got in touch with a waiter, who informed us. She is a Class 11 student in a government college in Bijnor in UP," a police official attached to the Colva police station said.

Police said the coach had been abusing the girl for over a week in the hotel room.

"We have booked him for rape," police said, adding that the minor girl was now in the custody of her parents.
