Coal PSU’s CMD held by CBI for taking bribe
The CBI on Wednesday arrested five persons, including the chairman-cum-managing director of the South Eastern Coalfields Limited and the managing directors of two private companies on corruption charges. It also recovered Rs. 1.5 crores during the searches.
Sources said the CBI had registered a criminal case against SECL’s CMD and the managing directors of two private companies on charges of criminal conspiracy. CBI officials conducted searches at five places in New Delhi, Bilaspur and Raipur. The SECL CMD had allegedly taken a Rs 50 lakh bribe to provide certain favours, the sources said.
In another case, the CBI on Wednesday also arrested four persons, including the chief general manager of the National Highway Auth-ority of India, for allegedly favouring a private construction firm in allocation of contracts. Those arrested included CGM S.K. Nirmal and NHAI general manager Nitin Jain. The other two were top private sector exe-cutives.
