Coalgate: CAG report pegs at Rs 1.8 lakh crore
The Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the allocation of coal blocks says Rs 1.86 lakh crore would have accrued to private coal allottees due to allocation made without a competitive bidding process.
The CAG report tabled in Parliament on Friday said the 'bidding process' was vitiated by allowing Reliance Power to use excess coal from three blocks allocated to Sasan project.
Further, the report slams government for the delay in introducing competitive bidding in coal block allocations and indicts the screening committee involved in block allocations.
