Collect metal for Vallabhai Patel’s statue: Narendra Modi
Thiruvananthapuram: Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s PM candidate, Narendra Modi, urged his State party leaders, especially Karshaka Morcha, to speed up collecting the metal for sculpting the memorial for the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, in Gujarat.
Modi, who arrived here by a special flight from Bhopal, went into a huddle with the State Who’s who of the BJP at Hotel Mascot. Clad in yellow full sleeve kurta and white pajamas, he waved to the 100-odd BJP supporters outside the hotel.
He pepped up colleagues saying, the Iron Man memorial would be the tallest statue in the country and be called, the ‘statue of unity’, made of metal collected from four corners of the country.
The leader was received by State BJP president V. Muraleedharan, BJP national secretary P. K. Krishnadas, senior BJP leader O. Rajagaopal and other party supporters at the technical area of the IAF base.
On Thursday, Modi will worship at Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple and will later call on the erstwhile Travancore royal family members at Kowdiar palace at 7:45 am. He will leave for Amritapuri by helicopter at 9:15 am for Mata Amritananda Mayi’s 60 birthday celebrations. He is expected to leave the capital city by 2:15 pm to Trichy where he has another party programme to attend.
