Confusion over model’s death
Confusion still reigns over the death of local model Bidushi Dash-Barde (23).
The police has registered a murder case on the basis of a maid’s claim that she had seen a man in white shirt with the model, on the morning of the day she was killed. The maid, who works in the flat above, said that she had peeped into the flat, as its main door was ajar.
However, police sources said that it was impossible for the maid to have seen the inside of the flat, even if the main door was ajar, as the entrance is shielded by another semi-circular glass door, which is “thick and opaque”.
“No one can see through the glass as it’s a fancy decorative piece with a flower carved on it,” said a source from the D.N. Nagar police.
The maid, Ambubai Lavte (65), works at one of the flats in the Manish Nagar Cooperative Housing Society in Andheri (west).
Bidushi’s husband Kedar (26) had also told the police that she was a juvenile diabetic and would often feel giddy and faint.
The police is not ruling out the fact that she could have fainted and fallen on the glass shelf. “As of now, it is difficult to determine under what circumstances the glass shards pierced her neck. They pierced more or less the same way when a person falls on glass or when someone uses it as a weapon. Forensic experts can only establish this when they study the depth of the gash, the direction in which it has entered and other physical aspects of the injury,” explained a source.
The police also believes that Bidushi might have been upset over being “out-of-work” and not getting enough contracts or modelling assignments. She is the winner of the 2006 Miss Chennai beauty pageant.
When contacted, deputy commissioner of police Pratap Dighavkar said, “We are investigating the case and cannot comment at this stage.”
