Cong asks PDP to withdraw its Kashmir map
Reacting sharply against PDP for showing Aksai Chin as part of China in a map released by the main Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, the Congress on Monday asked the Valley party to desist from such “pictorial adventurism” and withdraw the controversial map immediately.
Terming PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti’s statement that the “Centre should not get touchy, rattled or bullied by China” as “completely immature”, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said, “The PDP’s description of the map of Jammu and Kashmir in yellow, green and red colour is highly objectionable. This kind of pictorial adventurism has long-term diplomatic and political implications. They are advised to withdraw this map immediately.”
Reminding the Parliament resolution of 1994, Mr Tewari said it was passed unanimously, which clearly expressed sentiments of people of India through the Parliament on PoK, the AICC spokesperson reiterated that the state was an inseparable part of the country.
“Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the issue and without going into clarifications which will only further tie PDP into knots, it would be better if they withdraw the map immediately,” Mr Tewari emphasised, adding that perhaps the PDP did not remember the resolution.
On Ms Mufti’s statements, he said, “The president of PDP is adventuring into areas which are none of her concern.”
