Cong asks why BJP did not vote against nitish

The Congress on Thursday asked why the BJP had stayed away from voting against the Nitish Kumar government in the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday.
The BJP has launched the campaign against the Nitish Kumar government ever since the Janata Dal (U) quit the NDA on the issue of secularism and Narendra Modi’s projection as the PM candidate.
The BJP had given a call for Bihar bandh on June 18 in protests against Mr Nitish Kumar’s betrayal. But on the next day, when Mr Kumar saught the trust vote, it had stayed away. This is confusing the Congress about BJP’s real motive behind.
“If Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD (22 MLAs) had voted against the Nitish Kumar government why has the BJP (91MLAs) shied away from voting with the RJD?,” they asked.
The Congress is unlikely to join the BJP-Lalu Prasad’s campaign against Mr Nitish Kumar although the JD(U) is not part of the UPA nor announced to back the Manmohan Singh government from outside so far.
“The RJD is not our ally but has been backing the Centre like the SP, BSP and other parties unconditionally,” a Congress general secretary pointed out.
The Congress is not taking any interest in the fight between JD(U) and the RJD at the local level after realising that Mr Nitish Kumar’s walking out of the NDA led to the BJP’s isolation at the national level ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, the Congress on Thursday said Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s governance was a “failure” and he was faking figures to claim development when the state is lacking badly in social sectors.
