Cong, BJP set for yatras’ next phase
Both the ruling Congress and the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party have geared up for the next phase of battle to be fought through their respective yatras in Rajasthan. Congress leaders have claimed that the party had connected with over 15 lakh people in the last two months and covered 59 Assembly segments during the party’s Sandesh Yatra.
The BJP, meanwhile, expressed satisfaction over its ongoing Suraj Sanklap Yatra led by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
Embarked on her Suraj Rath Yatra, Ms Raje had travelled more than 4,000 km and addressed a series of public rallies. Concluding the fourth phase of her Suraj Yatra on Friday in Bhilwara district, she said people were ready to oust the Congress from power.
The BJP has covered the southern and eastern parts of the state through the yatra and is now preparing for the fifth leg to be launched in central Rajasthan next month.
Terming its Sandesh Yatra the most successful, the Congress is ready to move to the politically important Shekhawati region, which is part of the Jat heartland.
The eighth phase of the Congress Sandesh Yatra will be launched on May 26 for the Shekhawati region.
