Cong block leaders upset
Resentment is brewing among the block committees leaders against the Congress high command’s decision to seek applications in a format from the ticket aspirants. The Opposition BJP also questioned the format introduced by the Congress seeking caste-wise details from the aspirants.
It is aimed to divide the society on caste line, said a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader.
The Congress introduced a prescribed application for the ticker seekers when it got lot of complaints against the block committees in dealing with the aspirants.
The aspirants found the block committees were working on behest of sitting MLAs or a particular leader and refused to accept their applications. It witnessed infighting at several places.
The block-level leaders were happy when they included in the process of shortlisting candidates but soon they left with disappointment.
A group of a dozen block Congress presidents met last week in Jaipur and expressed unhappiness over party’s decision to keep the block committees at bay from the selection process.
“We were happy when Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi directed to rope in block-level leaders in selection of candidates, but now out of sudden we have been thrown out from the process,” said a block Congress official in Jaipur.
