Cong criticises BJP’s costly MP Foundation day
While the stage is all set for a mega-cultural event to be organised on an unprecedented scale by the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state capital on Tuesday to mark the fifty-sixth Foundation Day of Madhya Pradesh, the main Opposition Congress has come down heavily criticising the costly extravaganza.
Renowned playback singer Asha Bhonsle and famous film actor Hema Malini would be the main attraction at the Foundation Day Function being spearheaded by the state culture department. Bhonsle has even appealed to residents of Bhopal to come and attend this function in large numbers.
The theme of this event would revolve around the “creativity and capability of women”. About 800 artistes from different parts of Madhya Pradesh would be performing and representing the rich tribal, folk and classical traditions on this occasion. There would also be a grand firework display by Maurani Brothers, who came into the limelight with the captivating display of fireworks at the recent Commonwealth Games.
For this function to be held at the imposing Lal Parade Ground, invitation letters on behalf of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have already been sent to about 3.50 lakh households in the state capital. In a statement here, state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria has come down heavily against the state for organising the Foundation Day function in the state capital on such a big scale. He said as per tradition only the 25th, 50th 75th and the 100th foundation Day are supposed to be celebrated with such pomp and show.
