Cong hits back at Modi, Uma for Rahul attack
The Congress on Saturday took a jibe at former BJP leader Uma Bharti and hit back at Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for their swipe at AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for his reported remarks that Hindu radicals posed a bigger threat than terror outfits like LeT.
Claiming that Rahul Gandhi has made “irresponsible” remarks, Ms Bharti said, “Rahul is taking notes from Digvijay Singh... Rahul should take class from me, should study a bit and avoid making such statement.”
Ms Bharti also said, “Dijvijay was teaching Rahul to make statements against RSS to garner Muslim votes.”
In a counter-offensive to what Ms Bharti claimed, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said, “First Uma should make it clear who others have been her disciples in politics so far.”
Later speaking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari first maintained that he does not want to respond to such frivolous comments, but was then quick to add that those “who are in political sanyas” give such comments to remain in news, referring to Ms Bharti, who was expelled from the BJP in 2005 and is now expected to return to the party soon.
Meanwhile, hitting back at the Gujarat chief minister, Mr Tewari said, “Who is raising the this question? A person who has only one contribution in the fight against terrorism and that is fake encounters.”
Mr Modi in his reaction, though without naming Rahul Gandhi, said, “Now it is clear who was prompting the US to speak in favour of Pakistan. After the WikiLeaks release, it is known who was guiding the US and providing information about Pakistan, based on which America made an opinion about the country... This is the biggest loss for the country.”
