Cong hits out at BJP over cash at press meet

On Thursday, coinciding with the entry of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani’s Janchetna Yatra in Madhya Pradesh, the main Opposition Congress lashed out at the ruling BJP for distributing cash among journalists at a press briefing on the Advani yatra called by the Satna district unit of the BJP on Wednesday.
The distribution of cash (reportedly `1,000 to each journalist) at a press conference called by the BJP, ahead of the Advani Yatra, has been widely publicised by the local media. Reacting to this, state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria said that the BJP stands exposed.

BJP leader’s kin is new C’garh Cong treasurer

The recent appointment of Ram Gopal Agrawal, kin of a senior state BJP leader, as treasurer of the Chhattisgarh unit of Congress, has raised many eyebrows in the Congress circle here.
Mr Agrawal, said to be AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh’s protégé, has married off his daughter to the son of Gouri Shankar Agrawal, a senior state BJP leader in 2010. The BJP leader, who currently heads the state undertaking, Chhattisgarh Mining Corporation (CMC), has recently resigned from the post of treasurer of the state BJP to assume the new charge.
Congress sources said several senior leaders of the party were peeved at Mr Agrawal’s appointment as treasurer of the state party for a number of reasons.
