Cong kickstarts its yatra in MP

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said that the Congress only needs party workers who can hold their ground and fight a prolonged battle against the state Bharatiya Janata Party’s misrule in Madhya Pradesh. This battle will continue till December 2013 when the Congress party will return to power in the state, he asserted.
Mr Singh was addressing a huge rally at Prithvipur, a few kilometres from here on the Orchha-Tikamgarh road at the beginning of Opposition Leader in the state Assembly Ajay Singh’s Janchetna Yatra. During this yatra, Mr Singh will be travelling by road through more than 200 Assembly constituencies.
Besides Mr Ajay Singh, the other senior Congress leaders, who addressed the public meeting on this occasion included Congress general secretary incharge Madhya Pradesh affairs B.K. Hariprasad, state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria and Union minister Pradeep Jain.
Before starting his yatra, Mr Ajay Singh, accompanied by the senior Congress leaders and a large number of Congress workers went to the historic Ram Raja Temple to seek the blessings of Lord Ram. This is the only Hindu temple where the deity is worshipped as a ruling deity.
Speaking on this occasion, the Opposition leader said his yatra actually began when they had brought a no-confidence motion against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state Assembly. Unfortunately, the chief minister did not reply to any of the charges and the no-confidence motion was defeated because the ruling BJP is in majority. State Congress president Kantilal Bhuria had advised at that time that one should go from village to village and inform the people about the injustice being done to them on every front so that they can give a clear verdict at the time of the next Assembly election in 2013, Mr Singh told the rally.
Mr Singh said it would be wrong to say there is a BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. In fact a few self-serving people are at the helm of affairs in the state, he said, adding every other day we hear of gangrapes.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
