Cong lauds UPA govt for price control
With food inflation showing trends of decline this week, the Congress on Monday lauded government efforts in bringing ever-rising prices of essential commodities down to single digit.
The appreciation from the ruling party, interestingly, has come on the day when the week-long deadlock in Parliament between ruling formation and Opposition got resolved by deciding to adopt a resolution asking the government to take more measures to contain spiraling of food prices.
“We welcome the fact that the food inflation has started showing downward trend. It has come to single digit after a long time. The government’s efforts appear to have began showing results,” AICC spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan said, adding that price rise was a “very sensitive issue” and any discourse on this should be done carefully.
