Cong leader held on rape charges
The police has arrested a leader of the ruling Congress on charges of rape and attempt to murder. The Congress leader and district Waqf committee president, Hasru Pathan, was arrested late on Saturday night in Kota.
The police produced Pathan before the additional chief judicial magistrate in Kota on Sunday. He was sent to judicial custody till October 3. According to the police, Pathan was booked when a woman lodged an FIR alleging she has been raped by Pathan, who forcefully entered her house late on Saturday in an inebriated state.
BJP workers gathered outside an apartment at midnight and created a scene. The crowd, led by district BJP president Shyam Sharma, caught Pathan and thrashed him. The police intervened and arrested Pathan while the victim lodged a formal FIR against him. Pathan’s wife Tabassum said the sace was fabricated and that her husband had been falsely implicated.
Meanwhile, in Udaipur, Anti Corruption Bureau [ACB] sleuths caught the an assistant public prosecutor (APP) Abhimanyu Singh for asking a woman for sexual favours.
The victim had filed a petition before a local court against her estranged husband and the APP sought sexual favour from the woman in lieu of helping her with the petition. The victim approached the ACB which laid a trap on Friday evening and nabbed the prosecutor when he reached the victim’s residence.
