Cong: Let CBI probe minister exam proxy
As a Puducherry minister faced a charge that he used a proxy to write his SSLC exam in Tamil Nadu recently, the Opposition Congress on Monday petitioned lieutenant-governor Iqbal Singh seeking a CBI probe into the issue.
A Congress delegation submitted a petition to Mr Singh urging him to ensure that a CBI probe was ordered into the charge that education minister P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram had engaged a proxy to write his SSLC supplementary exam in a school in Tindivanam last month, a charge denied by the minister.
The delegation led by PCC leader A.V. Subramanian and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly V. Vaithilingam met the lieutenant-governor a day after Union minister of state in PMO V. Narayanasamy said a CBI probe was necessary as the issue involved two states (Puducherry and Tamil Nadu). Rubbishing the charge as “politically motivated”, Mr Kalayanasundaram said he was ready to face any probe. He claimed he had appeared for the exam on September 29, but could not write the exam the next day as he had to attend an official meeting. — PTI
