Cong: Let House discuss JPC issue
Hinting at a possible way out to break the Parliament logjam ahead of Tuesday’s crucial meeting of Opposition leaders convened by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, the Congress said on Friday that it was open to the idea of discussing a resolution in Parliament on the constituting of a JPC probe into the alleged 2G spectrum scam.
Claiming the party had not changed its stand, AICC spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said: “We are open to discussing a resolution in Parliament on the formation of a JPC.
But the Opposition needs to cooperate with the government, ensuring smooth functioning of the Budget Session beginning February 21.”
Ms Natarajan also said that if such a resolution was brought, it should be voted upon. She did not elaborate, however, if the Congress wanted such resolutions in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
