Cong media managers hold meeting
Ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament, Congress media managers on Friday held deliberations on how to project the party's image in a better way in public as the opposition braces to attack the ruling combine on the issue of corruption.
The meeting chaired by AICC general secretary and media department chief Janardan Dwivedi was attended among others by minister of state for parliamentary affairs Ashwini Kumar, party spokespersons Manish Tewari, Rajiv Shukla, Mohan Prakash and senior party leader Girija Vyas.
However, a large number of the 19-member media panel to present party views on television channels, could not make it to the meeting.
Party leaders remained tight-lipped on what transpired in the meeting. Shukla termed it an "internal meeting".
However, an indication was evident that the party could focus on the issue of Karnataka to turn the tables on BJP on the issue of corruption.
"They should answer to this issue of corruption in Karnataka first. We will keep on asking the question. chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's corruption has been proved from all corners. He is the most corrupt chief minister in the country. First they should remove him," Shukla told reporters after the meeting.
He was replying to questions on how the party will respond to BJP's attack on the government on the issue of corruption including 2G spectrum scam in which former telecom minister A. Raja was arrested.
To a question whether the meeting discussed on how to justify constitution of JPC into the issue, Ashwini Kumar said, "Whether JPC will be formed or not, you will come to know of it in future.
"But we are definitely hopeful towards ending this deadlock (between the government and the opposition on constituting JPC to probe 2G spectrum scam). I am hopeful that the Parliament will function in the Budget Session."
