Cong monitors TV channels, dailies
The Congress party has started monitoring news on television channels and e-papers ahead of the electoral battles in states and the Lok Sabha elections at a time when hey are controlled by the big business houses.
This exercise will help the party to know whether the electronic and print media is strictly following professional standards or going with some agenda, insiders said.
Also the Congress party’s strategy to focus on the social media has checked the BJP’s propaganda to some extent.
BJP’s prime ministerial aspirant and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is said to be using the social media against the Congress and its top leadership with the help of professionals outside the BJP.
If the BJP’s media managers are confident that the price rise, corruption and unemployment would help it in winning the elections, the Congress sees the food security, land acquisition bills, stability and secularism would ensure power for the UPA for a third time successively.
The Congress is training its team of spokespersons across the country by holding workshops on different issues.
Also regional parties can hardly pose any threat to the Congress and the BJP in the media war at the national level for the simple reason that their campaign would state specific.
Meanwhile, the Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury on Monday said “law is equal to all. The message is that no one is above the law. Law takes its own course,” while replying to questions about the arrest of Asaram.
“Why only saints, all offenders of such crime should get punishment,” she said when asked whether it was good that saints accused of such crimes are being sent to jail.
