Cong’s Solomon loses Jabera by 11,738 votes
The Congress has suffered a jolt in the Jabera Assembly byelection in Madhya Pradesh as Congress candidate Tanya Solomon has lost this seat, held by her father and former state minister Ratnesh Solomon till his demise earlier this year, to BJP’s Dashrath Singh Lodhi.
BJP’s Dashtrath Lodhi has won the Jabera seat by 11,738 votes. He polled 53, 846 votes against his main rival Dr Tanya Solomon, who had to settle in the second place with 42,108 votes.
All the other candidates in the election fray have lost their deposit. Among others, who contested this election, was Hariram Thakur of Gondwana Hantantra Party.
He ended up in the fourth place with 2,985 votes and Ashis Shukla (Raju Bhaiya) an Independent candidate came ahead of him with 10,577 votes.
After the byelection result was announced on Wednesday afternoon, state BJP president Prabhat Jha described his party’s victory as “people acceptance” of the BJP, its programmes and policies.
He also gave credit to the party workers for their hard work and said people have voted in large numbers for his party due to the popularity and good image of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The BJP leader said that the Congress’ election campaign was led by state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Singh and this election has shown them the ground reality.
