Cong wants to brand food bill
The Congress on Saturday demanded that the food security bill should be named after the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
This was made at a meeting of pradesh Congress chiefs, legislature party leaders and AICC secretaries called by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at the party headquarters here. This will checkmate the Opposition-ruled states from getting mileage from the bill, they said.
“This is our programme, our commitment and we want to get credit for it,” a PCC chief said after the meeting. They also wanted Opposition leaders or MPs to be nominated in the proposed state monitoring committees for the programme.
