Cong: Yeddy has admitted wrongdoing
Stepping up attack on Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Congress on Friday claimed that the BJP leader has once again acknowledged “wrongdoings” by his family members, as he asked his son and daughter to vacate the official residence.
Admission of “guilt” was already proved when the chief minister’s wards returned the land allocated to the and now by asking his son and daughter to leave the chief minister’s official residence is the second example of admission of “guilt”, a senior Congress leader said. “Asking the son and daughter to leave his house means he has accepted their wrongdoings,” Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla told reporters outside Parliament. Mr Shukla alleged that it hardly made any difference “whether sons or daughters are living with him” or “they are living in other house” because they have got so many houses in Bengaluru after minting so much money. Despite the Congress and even a section of BJP seeking Mr Yeddyurappa’s ouster for alleged nepotism and corruption, the Karnataka chief minister has managed to survive by pressurising the central leadership, which he could manage by rallying behind him the MPs from the state.
Reiterating the party’s resignation demand, Mr Shukla said, “He (Mr Yeddyurappa) should step down because he is facing serious corruption charges.”
Aiming at deflecting accusations of nepotism after saving his chair, Karnataka chief minister has asked his son and daughter to shift from his official residence in Bengaluru.
Mr Yeddyurappa has came under attack from the opposition for denotifying lands and then favouring his two sons, son-in-law by allotting those pieces of land to them.
