Congress calls Modi insecure
The Congress on Saturday said Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is insecure and has a sense of insecurity from the name of Nehru, Gandhi and Congress. The Congress was reacting to Mr Modi’s comments on Jawaharlal Nehru and the relevance of celebrating Children’s Day on Nehru’s birthday, Mr Modi also compared Lal
Bahadur Shastri with Nehru. “Mr Modi is insecure. He has a sense of insecurity from the name of Nehru, Gandhi and Congress and due to this reason he is falling into the depths of the politics of humiliation,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters when asked to comment on Mr Modi’s statement.
At the convention of CMs, Mr Modi said, “Jawaharlal Nehru was said to be very fond of kids and his birthday has been christened as Children’s Day. Kids called him ‘Nehru Chacha’ and it brings images of a benevolent Nehru flooding our minds. But what good has it done to the kids?”
“Lal Bahadur Shastri coined the slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan which electrified farmers and jawans. Shastriji, unlike Nehru, was not a charismatic leader, yet his tenure saw India producing record food grains,” Mr Modi said.
