Congress in a fix over Jagan
The Congress is clearly in a fix over how to deal with Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. This was clearly discernible during the course of the regular congress briefing at the AICC headquarters here in the capital.
Mr Manish Tewari, when asked about Jagan’s open rebellion against Andhra chief minister K. Rosaiah and the high command, said that it’s an intra-party affair. He added that the judgment of the matter should be left to the party. “It is an intra-party affair. I think the judgment of it should be left to us. The general secretary in-charge of the state is seized of the matter.”
When pointed that the general secretary of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Veerappa Moily, is not accessible to the media, he merely said that he would convey the sentiments to him.
When repeatedly prodded over Jagan’s recalcitrance, Mr Tewari said the party has a procedure and that would be followed, if necessary. He said, “The party has a robust procedure and if need be, the party would look into it. And also there is a general secretary in-charge of every state who exercises some oversight.”
Earlier, in the day there were reports that Jagan was issued a showcause notice by the party high command. But Dr Moily termed it baseless, when asked about the showcause notice. “It’s baseless,” he said.
Dr Moily, who has just returned from London where he had gone to receive an award, spoke to D. Srinivas over the phone to apprise himself of the developments in Andhra Pradesh in connection with Jagan’s yatra. But he refused to interact with the media all through the day.
